Part-Time Position Available - Hearing Educator

Carolynne Riley from Hearing Education Hawke's Bay

Hearing Education Hawke’s Bay is a Charitable Organisation which has recently evolved from the long standing Hastings Hearing Association with over 50 years supporting those in our community affected by hearing loss.
Seven years ago we employed a Hearing Educator who developed free education programs which are delivered to early learning centres, kindergartens, schools, tertiary centres and community groups in the Hastings District. These programs are highly valued and are in great demand. We know from our evaluations that our message is being heard ‘loud and clear’.
It is an exciting time for Hearing Education Hawkes Bay having now reached the point where we want to make the program available to all of the Hawke’s Bay area and are therefore looking to expand by employing a second Hearing Educator. This is a diverse and rewarding role with some flexibility around hours.

We are looking for an outgoing person who has the confidence to present to groups of all ages. We need someone who is self-motivated and able to work independently.

Key Competencies:

- Comfortable presenting to people of all ages.

- Clear Confident speaker

- Ability to work independently

- Excellent Time Management and Organisational skills

- Competent using Microsoft Office

Full training will be provided. Full Drivers licence required.

Hours: 20 hours per week – Possibly term time only.

Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time

Start Date: Feb 2020

Pay Rate: from $22 - $25 per hour depending on previous experience.

To apply: Email a cover letter along with your resume to Hearing Education Hawke’s Bay President Lyn Gage - lyngage@gmail.com

Eurovision Song Contest 2024

David and Sandra from Saint Leonards

The 68th Eurovision Song Contest is being held this month in Malmo, Sweden, with an expected 37 countries taking part. The first semi-final is scheduled for next Wednesday, 8 May, and the second semi-final for Friday 10 May, both starting at 7.0 am NZ time, and each lasting about 2 hours.
The grand final will take place on Sunday, 12 May, also starting at 7 am NZ time. But this show can last up to 4 hours, or longer.
The best place to watch any or all of these 3 events, live or later, is on Eurovision’s official YouTube channel. More information can be found on the official website, eurovision.tv... Perhaps this is Switzerland's year to win. But be warned, many of the entries this year are quite loud, as well as there being controversy over Israel's participation (approved by the organisers, the EBU) given the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
