Bicycle dismantlers?

Siran and Carlos from Kerikeri District

Have been wanting to get a bicycle for a while now but times are tough and a bike is not high on the necessary list to be honest. Thankfully I was given an old bike recently, but it needs some serious TLC and parts. I guess I could go to a new bike shop and buy parts but It struck me that there must be literally hundreds of old bikes in Northland, what happens to them all? Is there like a bike dismantlers around somewhere? I understand that doing up old things isn't particularly desirable in todays consumer, materialistic environment but recycling IS becoming more and more popular and the older bikes where no doubt of much better quality than the Chinese warehouse machines of today so many probably only need a good clean and oil/ or can be stripped for parts. Am in the Kerikeri/Okaihau area, thanks for any info.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
