Dark Chocolate Brownie

When cutting down on sugar, or going sugar free, it can be hard to create healthy tasty food that everyone can enjoy. Often the way around this is to use fruit in fresh or dried form. This recipe from Yvonne Gloor, one of our instore Nutritionists, is a great idea for everyone's favourite - Chocolate Brownie!

1 1/3 cups dates
2 ripe bananas
4 tblsp cocoa
1 tblsp cinnamon
1 cup cooked black beans
1 cup walnuts pieces
1 cup dessicated coconut

Preheat oven 10 190C.
Chop dates and put in food processor with bananas. Process until creamy. Add cocoa, cinnamon, black beans, walnuts & coconut. Process again until mixture holds together.
Put into a rectangular tin with a removable base and bake for about 30 minutes. Cool on a rack for an hour.

Just a reminder that Friday 6th February is Waitangi Day and we will therefore be closed, as we join the rest of the country in marking the anniversary of the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
We shop will be open as usual on Saturday and Sunday 9:30am - 2:30pm.
