MetService has issued a strong wind watch for inland and coastal Southland.
INLAND:
Valid: 11 hours from 5:00pm Monday to 4:00am Tuesday.
Forecast: Northwesterly winds may approach severe gale in exposed places at times.
COASTAL:
Valid: 32 hours from 8:00pm Sunday to 4:00am Tuesday.
Forecast: Between 5pm Monday and 4am Tuesday: West to northwesterly winds may approach severe gale in exposed places at times.
An update for severe weather will be issued by 10:00am Monday 16 Sep 2019.

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
