Heavy rain and strong wind watch
MetService has issued the following for Marlborough:
Heavy rain watch - valid: 12 hours from 8:00pm Friday to 8:00am Saturday.
Forecast: A period of heavy rain. Rainfall accumulations may approach warning criteria.
Strong wind watch - valid: 15 hours from 3:00am to 6:00pm Friday.
Forecast: Northwesterly winds may approach severe gale in exposed places.
An update for severe weather will be issued by 9:00pm Thursday 12 Sep 2019.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
