Are we too harsh on freedom campers?
Hi neighbours - freedom campers visiting Kaikōura this summer will be banned from popular sites and will face fines for poor behaviour under a new bylaw.
850 people signed a petition calling for the removal of council-designated preferred camping sites following a chaotic summer. The bylaw would ban camping at spots like Kiwa Rd in Mangāmāunu, and in the Kaikōura township.
Did you sign the petition? Or do you think we're being too harsh on freedom campers?

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
