Poll: Has someone tried to scam you over the phone?

Alice Angeloni Reporter from Marlborough Express

A retired Marlborough woman has been scammed out of $10,000 of her savings.
Police said the woman was called by a man claiming to be from Spark. He convinced her to give him remote access to her computer.
The scammer managed to gain access to the victim’s bank accounts, transferring funds between accounts and then out to another external bank account.
Have you received a call which could be a scam?

If you have a story to tell email alice.angeloni@stuff.co.nz

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
