Poll: Do you think Coromandel town needs a bus service?
Hi neighbours,
The absence of a bus service connecting Coromandel to main centres like Auckland and Hamilton is having social consequences, residents say.
For residents to visit relatives at Waikato Hospital, in Hamilton, they must first head to Whitianga, hop on a bus to get to Thames, then change busses to get to Auckland, change busses once more when there, and turn around and finish the journey at Hamilton Transport Centre.
Ordinarily, it's a two-and-a-half hour journey. But via public transport, it could take around six hours.
