Only the entries who have ‘liked’ our Facebook page and tagged a friend under the competition post will be considered and new matching ‘likes’ on the supporting companies will give an additional entry. The prizes are based in the Helensville area. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason. The winner of the competition will be picked at random from all the entries received in the period that comply with the competition terms & conditions. The winner will be announced on our Facebook page after 12pm on 6th of August 2019 notified via messenger.The winner is to collect the prizes from Harcourts Helensville office on or before 5pm Friday 16th August 2019. By taking part in the Promotion the winner acknowledges they may be required to take part in relevant publicity without further consent or payment. DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.
Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.
For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.
Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?
