What's on at Strathmore Community Centres, 108 Strathmore Ave and Raukawa Reserve.

Toni Taylor from Strathmore Park Community Centre Trust

Kia ora koutou,

Apologies, we’ve been a little quiet recently in our communications. We are still here but we have been super busy catching up after the Easter break. And really busy working with incredible people that are on board to help create better spaces, systems and programs for our team and for the people in our community. Motions are in progress and we are excited!

Huge shout out to Wellington City Council, our incredible volunteers dedicated to the Strathmore community, Community development teams on the Peninsula, Not for profit organisations , donations of goods from so many of you …the list goes on!

Being a part of and watching community in action is always inspiring! If you or you know anyone who wants to be a part of an amazing community, come visit and join in :)

Our regular activities are still going strong. Here are a few updates and reminders to follow…

Raukawa Community Centre

Join in on the walking group at Raukawa 9am for exercise with a view  It’s getting colder out there so there is even more reason to keep moving!

Iona and participants are creating art on Saturdays 11-1pm

Do you need to talk to a Housing New Zealand representative? Head along to Raukawa Community Centre this Wednesday 10 -11am.

Strathmore Park Community Centre

The Hula Fix group are moving more than ever @ 108 Strathmore Ave. If you’d like to join in, the new change of day and time is now full speed ahead on Mondays 6.-7pm. Followed by board games evening 7-9pm. Open to all!

Have you wanted to learn how to Knit or Crochet? Or just want to finish a project you have already started? Come in and join. We have Anne from ‘Crafty Volunteers’ coming to our Friday morning sessions to help if need. Join in for a sew, stitch or knit with the amazing volunteer team.

If you have a passion for a craft and would like to share your skills, join in on our Friday sessions. We are all about learning and sharing new skills in our community here @ Strathmore Ave and Raukawa Community Centres.

Our monthly Community lunch might have a change of day this week due to workshops held at the Centre this Tuesday.

We’ll post to our Facebook when we confirm the day and time.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and hope to see you soon.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
