Hydroslides to be upgraded at AC Baths
The two hydroslides at the AC Baths are being upgraded and will include exciting new features.
Pools operations supervisor Ryno Nienaber said the hydroslides at the complex were becoming increasingly popular and it was time for an upgrade as the tubes reached the end of their useful lives. Nearly 41,000 people used the hydroslides in 2018, with a total of about 475,000 slides taken.
“Although we’re sad to have to close the hydroslides to carry out this work, we will do our best to get them up and running again as quickly as possible,” Mr Nienaber said. “They should be a great drawcard to the already popular complex.”
The existing slides were scheduled to close at the end of March and work will begin April 1, weather permitting. The first stage is the securing of the site and demolition of old tubes and foundations. This will be followed with the installation of the new foundations and tubes in May and June. It was expected the hydroslides would reopen to the public in July.
