Southern Stars chasing their goals!!
The Southern Stars u12 Marching team, their coaches and officials would like to extend their immense thanks to all their sponsors who have helped the team with their fundraising goals, to attend and compete at the New Zealand Marching Champs in Christchurch on 14-16 March 2019.
The team is very excited about the upcoming Championships, where they will be competing against 21 other teams in the Under 12 grade from all over New Zealand.
In December, they competed at the South Island Champs and placed 2nd in their technical march and 1st place in their display which was hugely exciting.
Most of the girls in the team have been marching together for 4 years, providing them with plenty of experience for a successful competition.
Coaches Mel and Ashleigh are extremely pleased with their steady progress and continued progress and can’t wait to see what the weekend brings.
Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
