Black and White Cat
Hi neighbours, i am very sorry to have to do this post, but on Friday morning around 7.50am i was driving down Featherston Street, close to the hospital end of Featherston and a black and white cat ran across the road, and if felt like my heart stopped because i remember thinking please get across safely, and then i heard it get hit. I had already gone past, when i heard that horrible sound, and it was so close i thought the cat might have made it across but the car obviously hit it from the sound i heard. (To be clear it was not me who hit it, it was a car going the opposite direction) I pulled over in a state of shock and tears, and then parked my car and went walking down there to find it. I was terrified to look but i had to in case it was still alive, i couldn't bear the thought of it suffering. To my disbelief i did not see it anywhere, which left me thinking only one of two things could have happened. Either the cat managed to get up and take off in shock, or the person that hit the cat stopped and took it to a vet. It had taken me a while to find somewhere to park my car before i could go back and have a look, so it is possible that there was time for that to happen. Does anyone know anything about this, and please keep an eye out in case this beautiful cat did take off and is injured. It has tormented me ever since and i would love to know that the cat is okay. I am posting this so that we can all keep our eyes and ears open for any info about this cat and if someone is missing their precious pet, it could be at a vet somewhere? I truly hope this is a happy ending. I love animals so much and this is just breaking my heart!
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.8% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
25.9% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
14.4% ... It is complicated
