Want to Patrol? Have we got a Community for You!

Anthonie & Mary van Rijn from Foxton Beach Community Patrol

Hello all,

In our first 2 months of patrolling we’ve had lots of positive feedback and quite a few thank yous from the public and wonder if any of you are keen to join us and build on that.

We’re just about to put the last of our previous intake’s volunteers on the street (to Community Patrol!).

The door and purse strings are therefore open for us to bring on board another 2 or 3 volunteers.

Vehicle patrolling in pairs, generally evening/night, is a great way to give something back to the community, become more familiar with the town and the colourful characters in it, as part of a structured, like-minded local patrol.

Although we are still bedding down the Foxton Beach operation, Foxton cover later this year is still very much in the plan so if you live there, want to patrol and don’t mind doing 3-6 months patrolling in Foxton Beach first then please don’t be shy!

Training, police check, uniform, ID badge, patrol vehicle and patrol partner 😎 are provided free of charge - in return you invest approx. 4 to 6 hours in study (to pass online theory training) and are prepared to patrol a minimum of 4 hours (2 patrols) per month.

Message Anthonie if you would like more information - another good place to get the low down on what we are all about is the Community Patrols of New Zealand Charitable Trust webpage: www.cpnz.org.nz...

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
