The Big Band is back!!

The Mainland Big Band will be kicking off it’s 2019 programme in the Sports Hall at the Cashmere Club on Saturday 2nd Feb. This is a large 16+ piece band featuring saxophones, trumpets, trombones and vocals, supported by a 4-person rhythm section. The Band has a wide repertoire of music from Big Band and jazz standards, show tunes, 50’s rock’n’roll, 60’s and 70’s pop and rock, 80’s disco and into the new millennium. If you want to relive the music of your youth or would simply enjoy music that is designed to get the feet tapping and dancing then come and join the crowd!

The Band starts at 7.30pm and entry is just $10 per person. (Door sales only) All welcome - you don't have to be a Club member

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
