Christmas season is here again, and before you know it there’s only three more days to go! Carterton Market this Sunday is putting on a pre-Xmas market for those last minute locally-made gifts. There will be stalls, some of which have not been at the market before, music, a raffle for garden mulch drawn on the day, and a Xmas card-making activity for the kids.

Bridget Gardiner will be selling her vintage bunting and bunnies made from up-cycled fabrics.

Carl Perry has locally made upcycled timber chopping boards from a variety of woods including matai, totara and rimu.

Elwin Farm will be selling organically grown individual seedlings, great for putting in the garden over the Christmas break!

Dianne Millar will have on offer perennials for the gardening guru, as well as hand-knitted dishcloths and some leadlight suncatchers

Fionna Hill’s picked and lovingly created garden posies will be available at the Local Growers stall. At only $5 a bunch, these florist creations are not something you will see anywhere else.

Helen’s Honey has her locally Wairarapa grown honey, with different varieties to choose from, and at competitive prices.

Hensons Gardens still has available asparagus as well as a variety of new season potatoes including rocket and jersey benne at $3.50 a kilo.

Jenni Hall will be there with her teatowels including a lot of her Carterton souvenir designs

Julie Winder is on the Local Growers stall this week selling her NZ-certified Greytown Gold olive oil and her dried feijoas and other produce from her home.

Kate’s Kombucha has her fermented kombucha fizz in a variety of flavours, an ideal healthy non-alchohol alternative for around the Christmas barbie.

Leanne Presant will be bringing an assortment of smaller homemade products including bath bombs, slime, tie-dyed t-shirts, lucky dips, framed pictures, and necklaces.

Local Growers will be selling their weekly freshly harvested spray-free compost-grown produce, as well as an assortment of garden tools and aids.

Maureen Millar with her selection of creations made from donated and repurposed materials including children’s wear—girls dresses from 18 months to 8 years, boys jackets and shirts 3–5 years, boys and girls vests 11–12 years, and aprons, bags, necklaces, and chopstick wraps. All for under $5.

Old School Soap Petra has a lovely selection of handmade soaps with a variety of different colours and beautiful scents available.

Steve Wyllie’s edible plant varieties including perennials and new season spray-free garlic. Something different for the gardener that has everything, whether it’s wasabi plants, prickly pear cacti, or even peanut plants. He’s happy to talk to you anything unusual plant edibles.

Subliminal Candles is back with a variety of scented long-burning soy candles, as well as some personally knitted baby booties for small babies or expectant parents.

Carterton Farmers Market will have a stall where your kids can create their own Christmas card to give to someone special. Marty will be on hand to encourage and help where needed. It’s also your last chance to buy a raffle ticket to be in the draw for a trailer load of mulch. At $2 a ticket or 3 for $5 it’s a winner for those starting or finishing a garden project over the summer break.

And last but not least ...

Coffee On the Go where you can grab a coffee and a snack (the bacon sammys are my favouorite!) while you take a break from that Christmas rush. Chris will also be at Memorial Square on New Year’s Day.

A great variety of stalls with locally produced products.
