North Canterbury's water management zones may merge
Marco Cataloni wants to focus on "getting stuff done" when it comes to looking after North Canterbury's water.
Cataloni is Environment Canterbury's (ECan) new northern zone delivery lead, aiming to find the most efficient way of managing water across the top of the region.
His role is part of a pilot project to determine whether the Waimakariri, Hurunui and Kaikōura districts should be combined into one zone when it comes to water management.
Canterbury zone committees will remain in their current form, but the proposal will have them operate alongside three larger zones covering the northern, central and southern parts of the region.
