Water mains to be turned off on Awapuni Road this Thursday
Tairāwhiti Roads has begun work to help reduce noise and vibration from traffic on Awapuni Road in Gisborne. General Manager Dave Hadfield says Phase 1 of this work involves moving fire hydrants between Grey Street and Roberts Road away from the driving lane to stop the noise created by tyres making contact with the hydrant lids.
“This means that water mains will need to be turned off to properties between Grey Street and Roberts Road at 5.30am on Thursday 13 December. It is expected they will need to be turned off for 15-30 minutes." Read more
Changing the conversation around dementia
Reducing stigma starts with the words we use, and shifting the way we talk about dementia is a powerful step forward. This World Alzheimer’s Month, Ryman is highlighting the importance of reducing the discrimination caused by stigma surrounding people living with dementia.
Caroline Bartle, Ryman’s Dementia Care and Innovations Lead, says that using appropriate language when referring to people with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia can foster a more inclusive society. This not only benefits those experiencing cognitive decline but also their families and the wider community.
