Super Gold Card Fraud in the news toiday.

Colin & Alison from Burwood

There was an interesting article in the news that came up on the computer this morning with regard to recent cases of Gold Card Fraud.
For those of you who have one, ( or who may have elderly parents with one), like me until recently ,you may not be aware that if it is taken to your local AA office along with suitable identification they will put the holders photo on it for free!
Not only does it identify the holder and possibly stop it being used if lost, but it can also be useful as a means of Identification particularly if a person no longer has a driving licence which is the normal means of photo  ID.
It was not mentioned in the article which surprised me, but very few of the people and friends I have talked to have ever heard of it.
It is surprising how many businesses will give you a discount if you ask for it.
We most frequently use ours at our local Challenge Garage that gives a 15 cents per Litre discount when it is produced every time.
We have also used it to travel free on the Diamond harbour Ferry and will be going to Auckland soon and intend to use it to visit Waiheke Island.
We do not use them on the bus services but as I understand it free bus travel outside the busy travel periods is one of the main benefits that the cards are used for.
So please protect your cards and don't let them be abused or we may all loose them and that would be a sad loss.
Cheers and have a great day. Colin B.
