TODAY: Kaiapoi's Cure Boating Club celebrates 150 years on the water

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Northern Outlook

A long-running boating club with an unusual name is celebrating 150 years of getting North Cantabrians on the water.

Organiser Lisa Johnstone says several great events are planned for the Cure Boating Club's celebrations this weekend, including 500-metre sprint boat races by the club building on Saturday.

The history of the club, including photos and trophies, will be showcased at the Kaiapoi Museum, in the Kaiapoi Library, from 10am to 2pm. Entry is free.

There will also be markets food stalls and a Kidzone within the grass reserve between Raven Quay and Hilton St from 10am to 4pm.
