The Good Time Gang Comedy Radio Hour - Audition!

Jen from Wilton

The Good Time Gang is a new company of senior and volunteer performers who perform a raucous interactive show at retirement homes around the Wellington area. The group was put together by Jen McArthur, a local physical theatre maker, and Lynda Davis, who met doing The Wearable Arts Award Show.

We are auditioning for at least 2 new performers for our 2019 season of "The Good Time Gang Comedy Radio Hour", performed on Friday afternoons mid March to mid October. The show involves comedy, music, radio drama and audience interaction and is based on a 1940-60s style radio show. This initiative is to provide an opportunity for retired people who love performing to keep on the boards, or for younger people who have the time, to perform to an audience that is often overlooked and hungry for it! This show has received a WCC Arts and Culture grant for development and to equip it for performance but there is as yet no payment for performers. It received very enthusiastic feedback from the audience and staff in the four trial performances.

The audition is on Friday 16 November, from 2 to 4pm at the Newtown Community Centre Hall, Colombo St Newtown, Wellington.
Enquiries to Jen McArthur - jennyrowan.mcarthur@gmail.com or to Lynda Davis 021 122 2900, odavis@iconz.co.nz.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
