Severe weather watch - potential snow fall
MetService has issued a severe weather watch for the area. A trough of low pressure moves east across central and northern New Zealand today (Friday), spreading a strong and cold southerly flow across the country. Severe Weather Warnings are in force for heavy snow and severe gale southerlies.
Area: Taihape
Valid: 8 hours from 11:00pm Friday to 7:00am Saturday
Forecast: Snow is expected to lower to 600 metres overnight, with heavy falls possible above 800 metres. Snow accumulations may approach warning criteria above 800 metres.
