This is a special call for Meals on Wheels Drivers in Dunedin!!!!
Can you spare an hour one a day a fortnight or one day a month? Or would you prefer to be a relief driver? Or a School Holiday driver? Any help is greatly appreciated. We are needing volunteer drivers to deliver Meals on Wheels in the City Central and Hill areas urgently.
Volunteers collect meals from one of four pick up sites around the city every lunchtime. Each run takes an hour to complete.
Often our volunteers provide the only human contact with Meals on Wheels clients from day to day and both the volunteers and clients describe this as a rewarding experience.
We’re often asked if groups can volunteer and the answer is “Yes!” We welcome individual drivers as well as groups from clubs, churches, schools and businesses. Often a group will “adopt” a particular route on a specific day ea
ch week.
If you would like more information about Meals on Wheels volunteering, please contact Fiona now. Our phone is 03 477 1040 or Email MealsonWheels@ageconcernotago.co.nz
Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
