Council proposes a suite of changes to speed limits
The Waimate District Council is proposing to change the speed limits of 60 roads across the district, with many of them dropping their speed limit from 100kmh to 50kmh. Only one street - Racecourse Rd - is up for a speed increase, with a minor change from 50kmh to 60kmh
Waimate District Mayor Craig Rowley said the condition of a lot of the roads in the outlying areas of the district were not suitable for 100kmh speed limits.
