In the interest of people getting to know their elected members better, I will run a ten-week series called "Throwback Thursday". This first post is a few day's late, but here it is: I was born on 25th June 1976, in Nelson, to my 19-year-old mother Noeline, and 20-year-old father Kerry.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
