No Compensation For Mining Ban
Mining companies are rushing to get new permits to prospect/explore on conservation land before the government's new mining ban on all conservation land comes into force. But when the existing ban on some conservation land was first introduced in the 1990s, mining companies were not able to convert their prospecting permits into a mining license. Neither did they receive any compensation. We need to make sure that this precedent is followed when the Labour/Greens/New Zealand First government introduces its ban on all conservation land.
