Horse Services available

Chris from Kaukapakapa

Often see requests for "who does what" in the horse world in our area. Have an equine science background at Massey University & Equibreed along with 15 years practical breeding experience. Have also done voluntary work in Egypt, India & Fiji helping local people with their day to day horse care.

EQUINE BEHAVIOUR
Foundation Training for your foal, weanling, yearling or adult horse.
Groundwork to establish command & control while producing a happy, relaxed horse.
Using proven scientific equine learning theory your horse learns quickly & confidently without gadgets, force or stress.
We work with your horse at your property.

BREEDING SEASON
Collect semen from stallions for shipping around NZ & teach young stallions how to perform for this procedure.
Licensed to inseminate mares.

FOALING
Packages to assist owners with their first foal including 3rd trimester nutrition, what to do approaching due date range, assessing quality of colostrum, signs of foaling, foaling down, first aid and post foaling care.

WORM ISSUES
Fecal Egg Counts (FEC) Are a useful snapshot for assessing small strongyle burdens (those tiny red ones) and help establish a drenching programme in line with international best practice. Routine drenching every 6-8 weeks is out-dated and a significant contributing factor to drench resistance.

HOOF TRIMMING
Maintenance & remedial trims, shoe removal, referral to WCF farrier where required.

ANIMAL WELFARE CONSULTANCY
Investigations into animal welfare matters and preparation of files to prosecution standard for MPI or private prosecution.
