Daily closure for Thames Coast Rd while NZTA clear slip

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Thames Coast Road will be closed from 9am to 4pm daily while NZTA clear up a large slip after Sunday's heavy rain.

There was also extensive flood damage in northern Coromandel Peninsula, closing Department of Conservation camp grounds at Fletcher Bay, Waikawau Bay, Stony Bay, Port Jackson and Fantail Bay.

Full road closure is necessary during the day to allow contractors to clear the slip quickly, NZTA Waikato systems manager Karen Boyt said in a statement.

Anyone travelling through Thames or Coromandel is advised to consider waiting to drive through the site after 4pm once it has reopened. Colville Rd near Golden Bay is still closed but will open to one lane tomorrow.
