Will you be taking to the streets in your community to strike for better pay? The nurses union has "strongly rejected" a DHB pay and conditions offer and is seeking urgent mediation. ‘Devastated and disappointed’ - former students hope it wasn’t one of their own
Former students of Taupō Nui-a-Tia College say they’re “devastated” and “disappointed” after the alleged arson at their school which has left an entire block of classrooms, and a health centre destroyed by fire.
Emergency services were called to the school about 2.15pm on Sunday, when plumes of black smoke could be seen across town.
Is there an algae issue where you are?
Once touted as an anglers paradise, and a top water-sport playground on the Waikato River, Mangakino is in danger of becoming a ghost town as toxic algal blooms slowly suck the life out of its main attraction - Lake Maraetai.
Locals say cyanobacterial algal blooms in the river’s hydro lakes have become more frequent over the past five years, and when they arrive no-one can swim or fish in them.
