Red Cross welcoming former Refugee Families to Dunedin.
Hi everyone,
Dunedin Red Cross Pathways to Resettlement Volunteers are welcoming former refugee families to Dunedin at the moment. If you’re having a clean out over Xmas, we are looking for the following items:
Clothes for girls 8 -12,
Microwaves, lawnmowers, televisions in in good working order.
Baby furniture like tables and chairs, push chairs.
Craft supplies.
Fireside pokers.
Storage units from the garage.
Kitchen canisters, kitchen tidies, dish racks, utensils.
Ride on toys and bikes for children
Anything you might think may be suitable for families who have arrived with nothing but suitcases of clothes.
Gift cards can also be donated to Red Cross directly for distribution to needy families. Eg. Go Bus cards, Briscoes, Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery, Mitre 10, Bunnings,

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
