Last term under way

Julie Cronin from Te Mata School Home & School Committee

Yay, I made it!

Now that term 4 is under way and the sun is out, it's time to get those hats out and on heads. Please make sure your children bring their hats to school and make every effort to get them to wear them.

My son wouldn't wear his, as he was afraid other kids would think he looked dumb, even though it is the school rules and he always wears a hat outside school. But, he knows if he doesn't he wouldn't be allowed to play out in the sun with his friends.

I know a lot of kids leave their hats at school over night, but the afternoon when they are walking home is the hottest and most burnable time of day, so it may pay to get them to wear them home and get into the habit of bringing them back each day.

Also, let your kids point out to the teachers and parents that they need to wear hats as well. As adults, we need to not only set the example, we should set the trends!

If you don't have a school hat for your kids, they are available at the Warehouse, school uniform shop or most bargain shops. As long as it is a hat and it is red, it's okay. The bigger the better, though, for sun protection.

Sun screen is also available at the school if you don't have it at home or for a reapplication. It is located in a few areas, including right outside the office.

Have a great term and keep safe.

Poll: Should employees be able to work from home?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

At the post-Cabinet press conference, the National Party asserted they want public sector staff to return to the office. This has opened a conversation about other sectors in New Zealand who have adopted working from home (WFH).

Where possible, do you think employees should be able to work from home? Vote below and share your thoughts in the comments.
