Ibrance (palbociclib) for treating breast cancer is one of the latest, at $6k per month it's expensive.
Some medical insurance providers will pay for this most existing policies won't.
It does need to pass MedSafe approval before insurers who do pay for unfunded medicines will fund it. More on the various treatment options here.
