Te Waka Huia
Did you know that in February 1963, a bus load of locals from Helensville north west of Auckland went to Waitangi
to support a local kaum ātua who was receiving a special honour from the Queen who was
visiting? On the journey home the bus lost its brakes on the Brynderwyn hills and went careering
over a 30 metre ravine, killing 15. It remains New Zealand’s worst road accident. The story of Te Waka Huia is based on this historic tragedy. Coming to the Turner Centre on Sunday 17th September. Book here:nz.patronbase.com...
