Waikato SPCA

Helen from Glenview

Last year in October our local branch closed suddenly. Since February 2017 The branch opened again under administration by national office (RNZSPCA) and have steadily been restoring the branch back to the service and reputation it needs to be. At the SPCA National AGM in June 2017, the majority of SPCA branches voted to become ONE SPCA - no more 45 branches all trying to do their best with managing resources well.

If you have been a Waikato SPCA member, are a life member, supporter, volunteer, guardian angel but not involved currently, our branch needs all the local support it can get. We have a newly appointed branch manager who has been in place 5 weeks now, and the centre is a much different place than recent few years. Please consider engaging again locally. We have so many animals in this significant region, and need all the support we can to keep SPCA involved in keeping the welfare of animals protected and represented. Centre opening times are still limited currently, but these are extending as the re-establishment of the branch progresses.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
