Linwood Lower Fields
Planting has begun on the urban forest and wetlands in Linwood Lower Fields. Thousands of native trees and plants will be planted on the site which will also act as a storage basin, reducing flooding in the surrounding area, while the 2.75 hectare forest will attract native birdlife. The logs lining the waterways are reclaimed from the Avon River corridor, removed as part of work to strengthen the stopbanks. The Linwood Lower Fields work should be finished in September.
