Traffic calming in Brook Street and Westbrook Terrace

Tom from The Brook

The main drawback seems to be that the chicanes/road narrowing installations do not have cycling bypasses (see attached photo for a v basic example) so cyclists get forced into traffic which is dangerous, particularly for kids and children cycling to school. It would be cheaper to install WITH a cycling bypass (less cutting out and materials needed) while still allowing the same width for cars! I've emailed the council about this and cc'd it to Cllr. Tim Skinner, who's following it up with the council.
It looks like they'll make the same mistake at the Seymour/Brook Street intersection as the area that's marked out doesn't include cycling bypasses.

This is likely to be a Nelson wide problem, not just us in the Brook so please give the council a nudge - the more the merrier IMO!
