Hello from the Wellington Buddhist Centre

Saradarshini Nicholl from Wellington Buddhist Centre

The Wellington Buddhist Centre is the hub of a friendly community of people who are interested in Buddhism and meet up regularly to meditate and support each other.

We aim to practice and present a form of Buddhism that is grounded in the core teachings and practices that underlie all the different ethnic schools of Buddhism. We are simply Buddhists, basing ourselves on the core teachings, but open to the richness of the whole tradition.
We have a number of regular activities, including:

Tuesday at 7pm – 9pm is Open Night
All welcome - a talk on an aspect of Buddhism, tea followed by meditation.

Saturday Morning Meditation 9:00am - 10:30am
An open session of unled meditation followed by an optional coffee and a chat at a nearby cafe. A great way to start the weekend.

Monday Beginner’s Meditation 5:30pm - 6:30pm
This is a chance to get a taste of meditation through learning a basic practice.

Eight Step Recovery Meeting - Mondays 6:45pm - 8:15pm
These meetings open to anyone who see themselves as being in recovery from addiction, habitual behaviours or obsessive tendencies.

Loki: lost 3 leg cat from Te Wharepōuri Street

Caroline from Berhampore

Loki is up to his old tricks and has gone awol again. The last time was around 2.5 years ago when he was found inside a wall cavity in the Satan Slaves compound. He is an 8 year old lilac Burmese. This means he’s a kind of beige colour. With amber eyes. He’s missing his right front leg.

He’s likely to be shut in a shed or under a house in either Te Wharepouri street, Luxford or until between Luxford and te Whareouri St.

If you can take a look in any shut sheds, outside laundries or under houses cavities. Any 3 leg cat who can make his way into a roof cavity and then down into a wall can get stuck anywhere.
