Poetry Reading at Petticoat Junction - Paekakariki Station Sunday 9th July 3 - 4pm
Mercedes Webb-Pullman is our poet reading at Petticoat Junction Tea Shop inside the Station Museum Paekakariki for July - Sunday 9th.
Mercedes was born in Kaitaia, Northland, attended William Colenso College Napier, lived in Australia and USA,
returned to NZ in 2008. She graduated from the International Institute of Modern Letters, Victoria University Wellington
with her MA in Creative Writing (Merit) in 2011.
Her work has appeared online ( Black Mail Press, Danse Macabre, Turbine, 4th Floor, Swamp, Reconfigurations, The Electronic Bridge,
and others ) in print in New Zealand, (Mana magazine, Poets to the People, Poetry from Lembas Cafe 2009 ) and countries such as Australia,
Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, Spain, France, Palestine and Argentine.
She has published nine books, all available at Petticoat Junction. The latest, The Jean Genie, explores the work of Jean Genet through
a series of contemporary sonnets.
In 2016 Mercedes managed to have a poem published every week, with over 50 poems in 42 literary journals.
She lives in Paekakariki. And her poem Paekakariki Hill is featured on the Paekakariki Arts Walk.
