Te Mata School Families
Welcome to the Te Mata Home & School Committee Neighbourly page!
Are you a Te Mata School family? If you are, you might like you to join us.
The committee is a group of volunteer parents who organise fundraising for the school.
Each year, the Committee fundraises around $40,000, of which $10,000 goes towards ICT, and the rest is put towards various projects or equipment such as playground matting, sports uniforms and equipment, class room wet weather games or books for the library.
The fundraisers range from the weekly 'Friday Lunch Treat', to selling second hand uniforms, new beanies and umbrellas. In 2014, the Read-a-thon raised almost $12,000. 2015's Te Mata Cookbook was a visual feast! In 2016 we raised $20,000 from the Adidas Fun Run! How much can you help us raise this year?
We are always looking for people to get involved and there are many ways to help - from joining the Committee, volunteering at events or simply being a ‘friend of the committee’ who we can call upon when we simply need more manpower.
The Home and School Committee meetings are typically held in about one Tuesday a month in the staffroom at 7.30pm. Check Facebook or the Te Mata Home & School notice board for an update on the next meeting.

Poll: 🤖 What skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?
The Reserve Bank has shared some pretty blunt advice: there’s no such thing as a “safe” job anymore 🛟😑
Robots are stepping into repetitive roles in factories, plants and warehouses. AI is taking care of the admin tasks that once filled many mid-level office jobs.
We want to know: As the world evolves, what skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59.8% Yes, supporting people is important!
