Further improvements to the Hutt River Trail - what an awesome asset

Colin from Avalon

As a regular commuter to Wellington from the northern end of Avalon, my favourite part of my ride is the section of river bank between Fraser Park and Melling Bridge. It's a beautiful winding section of path and at times I find myself amongst ducks, Pukeko, rabbits, very colourful Eastern Rosellas, dogs and other users of the path.

I've been waiting patiently for the last section of the path north of the Kennedy-Good Bridge to be sealed. This is where the riverbank flood protection repairs were completed last year. Well, this week that section was finished and it's now a three metre wide smooth path perfect for cycling, kids scooters, walking, running or any other recreation activity.

I think the Hutt Council, the Greater Wellington Regional Council and the contractors have done a great job and further improved an already awesome facility for the region. This is a perfect time of the year to get out and enjoy the river trail. See you by the river!

P.S. Thanks to the commuter who appeared when I was taking photos - I hope you don't mind being in my photo. :o)

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
