Five generations celebrated.
The recent arrival of Riley Ford has has made it five generations in a row for his family who have long established current and former Upper Hutt associations. Pictured from left are Nola Bircham, [Riley's great-great-grandmother], Lynda Nicolle [great-grandmother] mum Amy Austin [holding Riley] and new grandmother Catherine Austin. "Three weeks ago my daughter gave birth to our first grandchild who has become the fifth generation member of our family,' Catherine Austin said. "My mum and my 91-year-old Nana came down from Hawke's Bay so we could celebrate a family event as well as get a photo of our five generations all together. It weas a special day," Austin said.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
