Short Term Chlorine Treatment of Geraldine Water
As part of our commitment to provide high quality, safe drinking water to all our communities we are treating the Geraldine water system with a small amount of chlorine today.
This was following the discovery of a single E. coli bacterium at two points in Geraldine this week during our extensive water testing. While this was at levels far below what could possibly make anyone sick, we take even the smallest indications seriously.
Geraldine’s water supply is UV treated to kill bacteria at source, but is generally unchlorinated, so you may notice a slight change in smell in the short term. This will clear in a few days.
We will also continue high frequency testing to ensure this treatment has been successful.
