Volunteers urgently needed! Delivering hot healthy meals to those who need it

Service Centre Coordinator from Red Cross - Waikato Service Centre

Interested in giving back to the community?
Keen on helping those who need it the most?

New Zealand Red Cross are urgently looking for new volunteers to help out with our Meals On Wheels programme! This essential service sees our team of volunteers delivering hundreds of meals every week to those in our community who are elderly, ill or unable to support themselves.

We are needing more people to join our amazing team of volunteers who selflessly help out in providing healthy meals to those who need it in our community. Get in touch with us at Waikato@redcross.org.nz or 07 8490285 to find out more or express your interest.

What do our volunteers do?
As a volunteer driver - you will spend 1-2 hours each time you do so delivering hot healthy meals to vulnerable members of our community. Our volunteer drivers pick up the meals by 11am at the Waikato Hospital and deliver the meals in an assigned specific suburb in Hamilton City.

Notes:
- We provide fuel reimbursement but you do need a valid driver's license and your own vehicle
- We provide full training before you start
- You can choose to volunteer on an as needed basis (as a casual replacement driver) or fortnightly or weekly as you wish
- You will be assigned a specific suburb for each delivery - you can stick with the same one or choose a different one i.e. Chartwell, Frankton or Claudelands
- We appreciate all our amazing volunteers - so expect to join a warm and friendly team :)

Find out more by emailing us at Waikato@redcross.org.nz or ringing us for a chat at 07 8490285. Just ask to speak to Tracey or Jason. We hope to hear from you soon! Cheers.

Poll: Do you think Waikato needs an agency to grow its economy?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Waikato may be getting a new ‘go-to’ body for building the region’s economy.

The previous economic development agency, Te Waka, shut down earlier this year, saying the “passionate advocates” no longer had the resources to do what they’d planned.

Do you think Waikato needs an agency? Tell us your reasons in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).
