REMINDER: Magellan Lake consultation evening 12/10/2016
Hamilton City Council is carrying out a project investigating ways to improve water quality within Lake Magellan. The Council is holding an information evening at Endeavour School from 3.30pm to 7pm TODAY (Wednesday 12 October). Although the project is in its very early stages, the evening will allow interested members of the community to hear about what the project aims to achieve. Council would also like to hear from residents about how they use the reserve, and how the planned work can enhance the area.

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

Derelict Tokanui Hospital site in line for a clean-up
Derelict Tokanui Hospital buildings will be demolished and contaminated land cleaned up so the site can be offered back to iwi.
The former psychiatric hospital, southeast of Te Awamutu, sits on land taken from Ngāti Maniapoto under the Public Works Act in 1910.
