Taupiri Primary School

Kia Ora Koutou Taupiri Primary School is a small Decile 3 full-primary school (Years 0-8) situated in the village of Taupiri, nestled at the foot of Taupiri Mountain and bordered by State Highway One and the Waikato River. We are 7 minutes drive from both Ngaruawahia and Huntly.

We work hard to ensure that all children are catered for and that they are focused on learning to the best of their ability. Learning programmes are planned to meet individual needs and we have a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy programmes, physical education and healthy eating.

We expect our older children to be good role models and look out for our younger children at school. We expect children to take ownership of their learning and behaviour with the aim of becoming life-long learners. We keep the most important thing, the learning and personal development of the children at Taupiri School at the centre of all our decisions and programmes.

We monitor children’s learning and social progress closely, especially when they start school, so that if a child is not achieving at their expected level, we can intervene quickly. We believe that children want to learn in a safe, encouraging and supportive environment and this is why we are very proactive regarding children who demonstrate behaviours which detract from their own and others learning, or make others feel unsafe.

We believe in the shared partnership between parents/whanau and teacher working together to achieve the best educational outcome for our children.
