Established in 1879, Southland Girls' High School has had a long and proud history of academic excellence. All girls are encouraged to achieve. Quality teaching and learning are the core of our business. It is what we do best. Learning is personalised to each student and a high standard of achievement and personal conduct is expected. Southland Girls' High School is the only state Years 7 - 13 girls' school in New Zealand.
Our school is incorporated over two sites to provide an integrated and inclusive learning environment. Specialist teaching combined with an innovative curriculum ensure that girls develop skills which encourage them to become not only critical and creative thinkers, but also successful life long learners.
