Liz’s family association with the Wairarapa goes back to her great-great-great-great-grandfather, Henry Burling, who was the first person to enter the Wairarapa by foot from Wellington. Her early years were on a farm at the Taratahi Training Centre, where her dad worked, and then on a farm east of Eketahuna.
Prior to Liz’s role at Roseneath, she had been a Business Operations Manager in the public sector and had managed several other retirement facilities. She welcomed the opportunity to come back into elder care using her people and management skills.
Liz says, “We have very experienced staff who truly care for our resident’s wellbeing, both in the Care Home and Independent Villas.”
She particularly enjoys the very special homely and friendly atmosphere at Roseneath. “I love the difference I can make to a residents’ life; listening to their stories; seeing the pleasure they get in joining in with recreational activities; and the special care received by our staff. I’m lucky to be leading a team of brilliant, caring staff to ensure that every resident has ‘A Better Everyday’.”

Karen joined Roseneath as Manager in April 2021. She had previously lived in Papamoa for 26 years before moving to Carterton to become Manager at Roseneath and live closer to her sister.

She had previously lived in Papamoa for 26 years before moving to Carterton to become Manager at Roseneath and live closer to her sister.
Karen says, “It’s the best move I have ever made. I was born and bred on a farm, and just love being part of a rural community again.” As a registered Nurse, Karen has had a long career in Aged Care, including owning and managing a small Rest Home in Tauranga.
“The minute I walked into Roseneath I felt the good energy here. It’s friendly, warm and just feels like home,” says Karen. Having the best staff is so important, “They need to be genuinely caring, compassionate and love working with the elderly. It’s got to come from the heart.” Karen says she’s sure others with fall in love when they step into Roseneath, just like she did.

“They soon realise they can continue on with any and all activities they were involved in prior to coming to live at Roseneath, as well as participate in all of the great activities run in our activity programme”.
