Paint ‘n’ Sip Studio is the brainchild of Louisiana native, Amanda Anthony. Amanda experienced the painting and sipping concept in her hometown of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Post quake in Christchurch she was looking for something fun, inspiring and new to do, which led to setting up her own licensed painting studio from scratch.
The studio provides a unique, social nightlife experience open to anyone looking for something new and out of their comfort zone to do.
How does it work? Browse their online calendar (www.paintnsip.co.nz) and book a seat for the painting/date that is preferred. On arrival, grab a drink from their in-studio bar, an apron and find a seat. One of their artists provides step-by-step instructions through the featured painting of the session. Everything needed to complete the painting is provided and after two hours of painting, sipping, partying and socialising, everyone takes home their own work of art. Best of all, there is absolutely no painting experience or any artistic abilities required!
The studio runs school holiday sessions for kids and host private events for any occasion (birthday parties, hen’s parties and team building, etc).
Their public sessions are Tuesday – Saturday 7pm – 9pm and occasionally on Sunday afternoons. Located at 136 Ilam Road (corner Creyke & Ilam Roads), Amanda says the response has been outstanding for being open just one year.
“The studio has become a place to celebrate and create memories with family/friends that last much longer than the paint on canvas,” says Amanda.
