Karori Community Garden

Nurturing sustainable plants and people.
Karori Community Garden is a open access green-space that brings together locals of all ages. The garden is made up of volunteers who cultivate the garden, learn about plants and work to grow a community spirit. The Karori Community Garden was started in 2015 on a corner site of Beauchamp and Lewer streets.

People can have their own small plot, contribute to communal garden areas, and join in on working sessions and events. Working sessions are often held on Saturday or Sunday afternoon, or Tuesday morning.

Membership rules:
- Respect for all users of the garden and acknowledgement of Māori as original guardians of the land
- Indigenous New Zealand plants and creatures are treasures
- Weeds for some people may be other peoples loved plants
- No chemical poisons
- Participation in communal activities is encouraged, and this can be small or big across gardening, community and administration tasks
- Care for the neighbourhood and the section
