Kahutara Taxidermy Museum

A purpose built log building houses the Museum. Sculptor and expert taxidermist John Tuatara Ted McCosh has created an awe-inspiring gallery of preserved and modelled animals on his South Wairarapa property, offering visitors a rare close encounter with some of the planets most magnificent and revered creatures. The museum offers visitors a rare opportunity to touch wild animals and observe the anatomy and expressions of creatures theyre unlikely to come so close to elsewhere, even at a zoo. There are picnic tables & a small bush garden to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. We also hire out kayaks and canoes. Ideal place for groups large and small, we are also happy to give talks about taxidermy and log building. Very educational for school groups.
